Why are half a million graves being dug in South Africa?

Johannesburg (Daily Pakistan Online) Various countries are taking various security and administrative measures against the dangerous epidemic that is spreading around the world, but a unique measure is being taken in South Africa which can be used to assess the situation as alarming.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), a South African medical official has warned that about half a million graves are being dug in the province of Guatemalan to cover the death toll from the corona virus.
The head of the province's health affairs, Dr. Bandile, made the announcement in an interview, but his office was quick to point out that the actual figures were much lower.
So why did they give these figures? It is understood that he was deliberately trying to sound the alarm in the country so that people would pay attention to the virus. The virus has spread very slowly in South Africa and as a result people are no longer taking it so seriously.
Infections around Johannesburg have risen sharply in recent days, and hospitals here and in other major cities are struggling to cope. Some lack oxygen and some beds and personal protective equipment (PPE).
South Africa had several months to deal with the storm. Now is the time to test these preparations, but in many places they are clearly lacking.
More than 238,000 victims have been reported in South Africa so far, with more than 3,700 deaths.
