The assassination of Iranian General Qasim Soleimani by the United States, the position of the UN investigator came to light
Geneva (Daily Pakistan Online) The United Nations investigation into the assassination of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander General Qasim Soleimani by the United States has come to a head, with Agnes Kalamard condemning the US attack as illegal and a violation of international law.
According to a report by Al Arabiya, according to a UN investigator, the United States failed to justify the assassination of the Iranian general.
According to Al-Arabiya.net, Kalamard said that the killing of Qasim Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Quds Force, and nine others during a US military operation in Iraq last January was an illegal act and a violation of international law.
Kalamard added that the United States had failed to justify the attack on the convoy of Iranian commander Qasim Soleimani, who was leaving Baghdad airport, and to prove that Soleimani was a constant or imminent threat to US interests.
Kalamard's remarks came in a report calling for a ban on the use of drones and similar weapons, calling the practice of killing people with drones inhumane.
He says the world is going through a critical time and a potential turning point when it comes to the use of drones. The Security Council does not make decisions in this regard. It is unfortunate that the international community has remained silent on this issue.
On Thursday, Kalamard will present the results of its independent inquiry to the Human Rights Council, after which member states will have an opportunity to discuss what action it will take against the United States, which withdrew from the council two years ago.
General Qasim Soleimani is thought to have been killed along with his comrades in a rocket attack in Baghdad.
Tensions between the United States and Iran were running high over his assassination. Iran also attacked a U.S. military base in Baghdad, wounding several soldiers.
