BEIJING: A passenger bus plunged into a river, killing 21 people, according to reports. A passenger bus plunged into a river in China, killing 21 people.

A passenger bus plunged into a river in the southwestern Chinese city of Anshun, killing 21 people and injuring 15, according to a foreign news agency.

The video shows a blue passenger bus on a bridge in the southwestern Chinese city of Anshun and suddenly falling out of the driver's control into the second lane and falling into the river below the bridge.

According to the report, the bus was carrying the final year students of the high school who were going to take the entrance exams for the college.

According to rescue officials, 38 people aboard the bus were rescued, out of which 21 were killed. The injured have been shifted to hospital.

According to the report, the cause of the accident could not be ascertained immediately but an investigation has been launched.

It may be recalled that a similar accident had taken place in China two years ago, when the bus overturned under the bridge, killing 13 people and leaving two missing.
