Corona Virus: Reasons for Decrease in Corona Victims in Pakistan, Smart Lockdown or Implementation of Security Measures? BBCUrdu.com, Lahore July 3

Pakistan has seen a steady decline in the number of confirmed cases in recent days, following a steady increase in the number of corona patients over the past few weeks. The drop in the number of patients has had a direct impact on the country's health system, which health experts say is close to paralyzing.
Most of the 40-50% intensive care beds and units allocated for corona patients in hospitals in Punjab, Pakistan's largest province, are now mostly empty. Nabil Awan, secretary of the Punjab Department of Specialized Healthcare, told the BBC that just a few days ago, corona wards in hospitals were 90 to 95 per cent full.
"At the moment we have a shortage of patients in hospitals and high dependency units, ICU beds and ventilators are available at about 50 per cent," he said. However, he said the number of such patients has increased. There are those who have quarantined themselves at home after testing positive for corona.
It may be recalled that the government had allowed quarantine in the homes of patients with no symptoms or minor symptoms about two months ago and this was also aimed at easing the growing pressure on hospitals.
However, even after that, in view of the alarmingly growing number of patients in Pakistan, especially in Karachi and Lahore, the government had decided to impose a 'smart lockdown', ie to close only those areas within the cities where patients The number was too high.
